President Trump just put Putin on the clock. But it’s become increasingly clear that Russia would rather continue its bombing campaign than come to the table. Zoom in: In response to President Trump authorizing defensive weapons, Russia is escalating attacks on Ukraine’s energy grid, leaving families without power and spiking energy costs in Europe. As a combat veteran and former intelligence officer, I’ve seen firsthand that when done right, sanctions are effective. That’s why I’m leading an effort to impose a new set of targeted sanctions that advanced to the House floor this week by a bipartisan vote of 53-1 .
