Res. 72 to terminate President Trump’s national emergency declaration used to impose sweeping tariffs on Canada. The resolution would block the president’s order imposing tariffs on most Canadian imports under a claimed national emergency. “Canada is one of our closest allies and one of Ohio’s largest trading partners,” said Rep. Sykes. “These tariffs act like a national sales tax on American families and create uncertainty for businesses across Northeast Ohio. We can address border security and drug trafficking without launching an economic fight with our allies.
