DeLauro Statement on Birthright Citizenship Ruling

June 30, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON —Today, US Representative Rosa DeLauro issued the following statement following the Supreme Court’s narrow decision striking down President Trump’s executive order that sought to limit birthright citizenship: “Birthright citizenship is crystal clear in the Constitution. The Trump Administration knew that when they brought this case, but they did it because they wanted to see just how far they could take their extreme anti-immigration agenda. “This ruling should never have been so close. But today, millions of Americans—people born here, raised here, who have lived all their lives as American citizens and who call no other country home—can rest. The 14th Amendment still stands. Equal protection is still the law of the land. And long after President Trump is gone, the United States Constitution will endure.”
