Miller-Meeks Votes to Pass SAVE America Act to Secure Federal Elections

Mariannette Miller-Meeks (IA-01) voted to pass the SAVE America Act, legislation that would strengthen the integrity of federal elections by requiring proof of citizenship and government-issued identification in order to register to vote in federal elections. “Requiring proof of citizenship and valid ID to vote in federal elections has overwhelming support from the American people, with polls showing roughly 83% of Americans backing these common-sense measures,” said Miller-Meeks . “I was proud to vote to pass the SAVE America Act in the House to strengthen election integrity and protect the fundamental principle that only American citizens should decide the future of our nation.” Background : Miller-Meeks previously voted to pass the SAVE Act twice in consecutive Congresses to require proof of citizenship when registering to vote in federal elections. VOTER ID HAS OVERWHELMING NATIONAL SUPPORT National polling shows Americans strongly support voter ID requirements. Pew Research Center: 83% of Americans support requiring government-issued photo ID. Notably, 71% of Democrats favor voter ID requirements. Gallup: 84% of Americans support requiring photo identification to vote. 83% support requiring proof of citizenship when registering to vote for the first time.
