Republicans Secure Key Budget Victories Through Amendments

(Colorado State Capitol, March 28, 2024) -- Today, Colorado House Republicans were able to secure six amendments to the
2024-25 Long Appropriation Bill
and provide key victories to the state budget.

(R-Colorado Springs). "While we acknowledge the hard work of the initial budget proposal, I am proud to share that our team has effectively championed six amendments, aligning with the pressing needs of our constituents,” added Pugliese.

(R-Trinidad). “From veterans to school nurses, these amendments will help Coloradans in every corner of the state,” finished Winter.
Some of the highlights include:
Minority Leader Rose Pugliese - Increases the appropriation to the Department of Education by $2,000,000 cash funds from the State Education Fund for the Ninth Grade Success Grant.

- Adds $6.1 million General Fund to the Department of Human Services for the State Funding for Senior Services line item in the Office of Adults, Aging, and Disability Services.

- Adds $434,783 General Fund for the Appropriation to the Colorado Access to Justice Cash Fund in the Judicial Department.

Richard Holtorf
- Adds $1.0 million General Fund for the Veterans Service-to-Career Program in the Department of Labor and Employment.
Rep.
Ron Weinberg
- Adds $869,565 for the School Nurse Grant Program in the Department of Public Health and Environment. The total General Fund amount required for this appropriation is $1.0 million when accounting for the 15.0 percent General Fund reserve requirement.
