“Into the fire:” Carter blasts new government pricing mandates for prescription drugs
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rep. Earl L. “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) today released the following statement after the Biden-Harris Administration announced it will subject 15 additional prescription drugs to government price controls by unelected bureaucrats: “The so-called Inflation ‘Reduction’ Act takes patients out of the frying pan and into the fire – leading to higher list prices for prescription drugs, decreased plan choices for seniors, higher premiums, and fewer treatment and cures. “Since the IRA took effect, research and development of at least 22 potentially life-saving drugs has been abandoned—with more expected. The Biden-Harris Administration’s approach has led to increased use of prior authorizations, less access to drugs on formularies, and more barriers to care. I look forward to working with President Trump to blunt the worst impacts of the IRA and pass meaningful solutions—like PBM reform—that will lower the cost of drugs without sacrificing hope for patients, families, and caretakers.” ###
