Husted discusses affordable housing, visits Ohio State Fair in Central Ohio

“For many Ohioans, owning a home is part of their American dream, and we have an obligation to make sure that goal is in reach and affordable.” COLUMBUS – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today convened Ohio leaders for a roundtable discussion on affordable housing before visiting the Ohio State Fair to meet with Ohio’s agricultural leaders. “For many Ohioans, owning a home is part of their American dream and we have an obligation to make sure that goal is in reach and affordable. When I was growing up here in Ohio, people were leaving, and we didn’t have this housing problem. Our population was in decline. Now we are growing, and people are finding work here. And unless you want your kids and grandkids living with you, we need to build homes for our future generations!” said Husted. Husted hosted housing leaders from across the state to discuss the recently passed 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act , which he supported. The law addresses the root causes of rising housing costs by cutting red tape, increasing housing supply, lowering costs for families, protecting taxpayers and preserving local control. “Ohio’s food and agriculture industry is a cornerstone of our state’s economy, contributing $124 billion every year. At the Ohio State Fair, I had the opportunity to see firsthand the hardworking farmers, producers and families who make this industry foundational to Ohio’s success,” said Husted. Husted also visited the Ohio State Fair to meet with agricultural leaders and learn more about the issues impacting Ohio’s farming community. As Ohio’s lieutenant governor, Husted helped oversee a $456 million investment in the Ohio Expo Center and State Fairgrounds. In the Senate, he is continuing to support Ohio agriculture through efforts such as the Farm Bill.
