February 12, 2025 Press Release Washington, D.C. – Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi issued this statement on the House Republican budget which betrays America's middle class: “Today, House Republicans unveiled their scheme to steal taxpayer dollars to reward the wealthy and well-connected.  The new House Republican budget adds $4 trillion to the national debt with tax breaks to billionaire donors and big corporations – but makes middle class families foot the bill by ripping away health care from millions of Americans and taking food away from children. “By proposing huge cuts to Medicaid and SNAP benefits to fund tax breaks for the ultra-rich, Republicans have made their priorities clear.  This extreme plan betrays hardworking Americans by raising costs for those are already struggling to make ends meet.  House Democrats will fight back to stop this dangerous budget.”
