Senator César Blanco Hosts 11th Annual Back-to-School Backpack
Giveaway Series at Sunrise Mountain Elementary
El Paso, Texas - Yesterday, Senator César J. Blanco continued his 11th Annual Back-to-School
Backpack Giveaway Series with an event at Sunrise Mountain Elementary, where 450 backpacks
were distributed to students. This marks the second of three giveaway events taking place at
schools across Senate District 29.
Each year, selected schools are chosen based on data from the Texas Education Agency’s
Economically Disadvantaged Status Reports. Backpack giveaways are limited to students who
are enrolled and registered at the designated campuses.
Senator Blanco issued the following statement:
“Helping students thrive starts with the basics, and that includes a backpack they can be proud
of. This giveaway is about more than school supplies; it’s about giving students the confidence
and tools they need to start the year strong.
“For many families, a little support can go a long way. I’m proud that our office, along with
community and corporate partners, can come together to help ease the financial stress that often
comes with the back-to-school season.
“Every child deserves to walk into the classroom feeling ready to learn and excited for what’s
ahead. A big thank you to everyone who made this event possible. When we invest in our
students, we’re investing in the future of El Paso!”
