ICYMI: During August Recess, Shaheen Traveled Across New Hampshire to Continue “Affordability Action Tour,” Highlight Federal Funding She Secured for Granite State Projects

(Washington, DC) – In August, U.S. Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH), a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee and Ranking Member of the Ag-FDA subcommittee , continued her “Affordability Action Tour” to hear directly from Granite Staters about their affordability concerns and discuss her work in Washington to lower costs. Shaheen also highlighted millions of dollars in federal funding she secured for Granite State projects to improve access to affordable health care and child care , build new housing to drive down costs and support law enforcement in their efforts to combat substance misuse. Due to President Trump and congressional Republicans’ reckless economic policies, including on-a-whim tariffs, a war in the Middle East and slashing billions in federal funding from health care and food assistance, Granite Staters are being forced to pay over $4,800 more for everyday goods. Senator Shaheen remains laser-focused on mitigating the impact of Republican leadership and improving affordability for Granite State families, including her efforts to secure three New Hampshire-focused provisions in the landmark ROAD to Housing law and her INSULIN Act to lower health care prices by capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month. “President Trump and congressional Republicans campaigned on lowering costs for American families, yet at every turn they have done just the opposite. With reckless tariffs, a senseless trade war with Canada and a war in the Middle East, Granite State families are reeling from this Administration’s economic policies,” said Senator Shaheen . “I started my Affordability Action Tour over a year ago and I thank everyone who I was able to speak to over these past weeks. While we’ve made steps in the right direction like advancing legislation to speed up homebuilding and lower health care costs, the work is far from over.
