Scott Votes Against Trump’s Iran War
March 5, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON – Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement after voting for the War Powers Resolution to terminate the United States Armed Forces involvement from hostilities in the Islamic Republic of Iran, unless authorized by Congress. “Today, I voted against President Trump’s reckless and illegal war in Iran. We have already lost American troops, and many others are injured. In their briefing to Congress this week, the Trump Administration could not articulate any credible rationale for the war nor a plan to bring it to an end. The war is quickly expanding, and it risks destabilizing the entire region. It is putting many more troops and civilian lives in danger. By illegally launching this war, President Trump has made us less safe.” # # # Issues : Defense & National Security Foreign Affairs
