“We’ve already accomplished a number of priorities for Ohio: No tax on tips, no tax on overtime, a $2,200 tax credit for every child for working families and a new Workforce Pell Grant program to help young adults earn a workforce credential at their local community colleges.”
DAYTON, Ohio – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) visited Dayton Wednesday to meet with businesses and community leaders and to tour Sinclair College with faculty.

“In the Senate, I’ve been working to help Ohio continue to embrace innovation and to remove barriers that make it hard for businesses and workers to succeed. We’ve already accomplished a number of priorities for Ohio: No tax on tips, no tax on overtime, a $2,200 tax credit for every child for working families and a new Workforce Pell Grant program to help young adults earn a workforce credential at their local community colleges. That helps them earn good jobs, support their families and give back to their local economies,”said Husted.
Husted delivered remarks to more than 150 business leaders atthe Dayton Area Chamber government affairs luncheon. The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce is the largest business organization in the Dayton region, serving 2,200 business members in 14 counties.

“Dayton businesses and policymakers worked together to put our city and state on a solid economic footing. Now, the area between Dayton, Columbus and Cincinnati is the defense and aerospace capital of the world. Because economic development is a team sport, it’s important for lawmakers to help communities support their businesses, get taxes under control and open options for school choice and career education. The Dayton Area Chamber of Commerce is doing its part to multiply success in the Miami Valley,”said Husted.
Husted also visitedSinclair Collegeto tour its Health Sciences Center and discuss how the new Workforce Pell Grant in the budget law will benefit the school’s career programs. Sinclair’s workforce development program remains the largest in the Dayton region.

“One of the ways the recent budget law prioritizes Ohio’s needs is by establishing Workforce Pell Grants. I fought to expand this resource so these grants could help more Ohioans earn industry credentials that lead to good-paying jobs. It was exciting to see how these new tools complement Sinclair’s ongoing efforts to help Ohioans become career-ready, which keeps good jobs here in our state,”explained Husted.
