Stanton, DeSaulnier Urge Congress to Extend HOV Lane Exemption for Electric Vehicles
WASHINGTON — U.S. Representatives Greg Stanton (D-Ariz.) and Mark DeSaulnier (D-Calif.) are urging House Speaker Mike Johnson and Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries to extend the High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) Lane Exemption for interstate highways. For years, electric vehicle drivers in Arizona have been allowed to use the HOV lane solo, but the exemption is due to expire September 30, 2025. “Extending this this authorization will promote American automotive innovation, aid American manufacturing of clean vehicles, and alleviate congestion. Without action, the expiration of this l aw will impaction hundreds of thousands of Americans in Arizona and California alone, and many more across the country,” the Representatives wrote . “We ask you that you include a reauthorization of this key program in any end-of-year legislation, including a potential Continuing Resolution.” The full letter is HERE .
