SENATOR BRIAN BIRDWELL PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE CAPITOL STAFF
AUSTIN—State Senator Brian Birdwell (R-Granbury) announced Tuesday the finalized list of his Capitol staff members
going into the 89th legislative session. Kirstee Bock, Nicole Childress, JW Galloway, Hunter Hinton, Ryan Hogan, Lacy
Malone, and Gatlin Moncla will represent the Senator in the Austin office.
"As I always do before a legislative session, I am again excited to officially introduce my Capitol staff," said Sen. Birdwell.
"This session will be another rigorous one, so I am pleased to have such a talented team to help me serve the citizens of
Senate District 22."
Legislative Director Gatlin Moncla worked as a policy analyst to Senator Birdwell from 2018 to 2021, before leaving to
work for the Speaker's office in the 87th legislative Session. Moncla came back to serve as Legislative Director to Senator
Birdwell in October 2022. This will be his sixth legislative session and second as Legislative Director. In addition to
overseeing the Senator's policy team and legislative priorities, he staffs the Committees on Business and Commerce, and
Finance.
Senior Policy Analyst Hunter Hinton served as a Policy Analyst for Birdwell during the 88th legislative session. Prior to that
role, Hinton worked in Senator Drew Springer's office. He is a native of Austin and a graduate of the University of Baylor.
He will focus on the State Affairs, and Health and Human Services Committees.
Policy Analyst Nicole Childress joined the Birdwell staff from Representative Justin Holland’s office. She is a native of
Austin and a graduate of the University of Georgia. She staffs Birdwell on the Water, Ag., & Rural Affairs Committee, and
covers the Local Government Committee as well.
Office Manager and Scheduler Kirstee Bock continues her same role for Senator Birdwell from the 87th and 88th
legislative sessions and is a graduate of the UCLA. Prior to joining Senator Birdwell's staff, Bock served as a Senate
Messenger and has played an invaluable role in all scheduling management and office operations since 2020.
Constituent Correspondence Manager Ryan Hogan joined the staff in 2022 after working for Texas Legislative Service
(Telicon) in the previous two sessions. Hogan will reprise his role leading all constituent outreach and communications in
the office, ensuring that Senator Birdwell is able to hear from and connect to the citizens of Senate District 22.
Also joining the staff through the Tarleton State Internship Program is Lacy Malone, a junior majoring in Criminal Justice.
Malone has previously worked for the Erath County Attorney’s office and plans on attending law school after graduation.
Senator Birdwell is also assisted by his District Managers, both of whom manage constituent casework and serve as local
liaisons on his behalf. Shelly Verlander (Granbury & Arlington) is a certified paralegal and joined the staff in early 2012.
Robyn Morrison (Waco) joined Senator Bridwell's staff in early 2022.
The staff will be managed by JW Galloway, who has worked in the Capitol since 2010 and came to work for Senator
Birdwell in early 2020. He previously served as Birdwell’s Committee Director for the Natural Resources and Economic
Development Committee and has served as Chief of Staff since August 2022.
The 89th legislative session began today Tuesday, January 14, 2025.
State Senator Brian Birdwell is a native Texan, decorated military veteran, survivor of the 9/11 terrorist attack on the Pentagon, and a
proud husband and father. Brian proudly represents Senate District 22, which includes Bosque, Comanche, Eastland, Ellis [partial]
Erath, Falls, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, McLennan, Somervell and Tarrant [partial] Counties. He serves as the Chair of the Senate Committee
on Natural Resources and Economic Development and the Senate Committee on Border Security. He is also a member of the Senate
Committees on Business & Commerce, Education, Redistricting, and State Affairs.
