Washington, D.C. – U.S. Senator Ben Ray Luján (D-N.M.) issued the following statement on the 24 th anniversary of the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001: “Our nation was forever changed on September 11, 2001 by the horrific terrorist attacks that claimed thousands of innocent lives in New York, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. Twenty-four years later, we continue to honor the memory of those we lost and the bravery of the first responders and bystanders who rushed toward danger to save others. “As a nation, we stand united in remembrance of those who were taken from us and in recognition of the thousands who answered the call of service in the aftermath of 9/11. Even in our darkest hours, the American spirit endures through courage and strength. “Today and always, we honor our promise to never forget our fellow Americans.” ###
