Joyce Announces $4.5 Million for Safety Service Complex

<p><strong>WASHINGTON, D.C.&nbsp;–&nbsp;</strong>Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) announced $4.5 million in funding for the construction of Cortland’s new Safety Service Complex. This funding was secured&nbsp;through the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371 – Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026.</p>

<p>“Our first responders deserve first-class facilities and equipment so that they can serve their communities to the best of their abilities,”&nbsp;<strong>said Congressman Joyce.</strong>&nbsp;“This new Safety Service Complex will allow Cortland’s public safety personnel to coordinate and respond to a variety&nbsp;of&nbsp;needs for&nbsp;the&nbsp;community. In Congress, I am dedicated&nbsp;to investing in our communities and bringing&nbsp;tax dollars back home, and I am proud to have helped secure this funding.”</p>

Our police, fire, and emergency personnel deserve modern, efficient, and safe facilities that reflect the high level of service they provide every day,”&nbsp;<strong>said Deidre Petrosky, Mayor of Cortland.</strong>&nbsp;“Congressman Joyce and his team understood the urgency and importance of this project, and their support will significantly advance our ability to protect and serve our residents.”&nbsp;</p>

<p><strong>Background:</strong></p>

<p>Once constructed, the new Safety Service Complex will house the City of Cortland’s Fire, Police, and Administration Departments. Additionally, the center will have a state-of-the-art training facility to train police, fire, and EMS personnel. When not in use for training, the space will be opened to the public, providing 24-hour access to computers, internet, and standard office supplies. In partnership with Kent State Trumbull, this complex will provide an opportunity for students and other members of the community to strengthen their ties with public safety personnel.</p>
