FireAid Releases Financial Records After Inquiry Into $100M in Wildfire Donations

WASHINGTON – FireAid has released hundreds of documents detailing how it allocated the more than $100 million it raised to support wildfire victims in California. The main documents itemizing the expenditures can be viewed here. Additional documents, including grant applications, will be posted in the coming days following the redaction of personal information.

“These documents from FireAid are an important step in providing the transparency that victims and donors deserve,” Rep Kiley said. “I’m currently reviewing the material carefully and welcome public input as to where further scrutiny is needed.”

Last month, Representatives Kevin Kiley (R-CA) and Jim Jordan (R-OH), Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, sent a formal request to FireAid seeking a full accounting of the nonprofit’s expenditures.

Earlier this year, FireAid held a high-profile benefit concert, pledging to use the proceeds to help those financially impacted by devastating wildfires across California. However, some victims have come forward saying they have yet to receive any assistance, raising concerns about how the funds were actually spent.
