Young Applauds House Passage of Congressional Stock Ban, Calls for Senate Action

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Todd Young (R-Ind.) released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed the Stop Insider Trading Act, legislation that would restrict members of Congress, their spouses, and dependent children from purchasing publicly traded stocks: “The House has taken an important step toward restoring Americans’ trust in Congress by passing the Stop Insider Trading Act . I have long supported restricting Members of Congress from trading individual stocks because the American people deserve to know their elected officials are serving the public interest – not their own financial interests. I urge my Senate colleagues to take up this legislation and pass this common-sense bill.” Senator Young has consistently supported restricting congressional stock trading. In March 2026, Senator Young cosponsored the S top Insider Trading Act. In April, he authored an op-ed in the Indianapolis Star urging Congress to pass the legislation, and in June, he spoke on the Senate floor to advocate for its passage.
