Stanton Celebrates Major Milestone in Returning Amtrak Service to Phoenix

WASHINGTON — U.S. Representative Greg Stanton (D-Ariz.) celebrated a major milestone in reestablishing Amtrak service connecting Phoenix and Tucson. Today, the Arizona Department of Transportation announced that the Federal Railroad Administration approved the first step of the Corridor Identification and Development Program for the proposed Phoenix-Tucson Intercity Passenger Rail. Stanton—the only Arizona member of the House Infrastructure and Transportation Committee—secured $500,000 in federal funding in 2023 for the planning process used to develop a scope, schedule, and cost estimate for the service. “This is a big step in our mission to return Amtrak service to Phoenix—connecting our communities, creating jobs, and expanding transportation options,” said Rep. Stanton .
