Rep. Garamendi Statement on ICE Shooting U.S. Citizen in Minnesota
January 7, 2026 Press Release WASHINGTON, DC — Today, Congressman John Garamendi (D-CA-08), a senior member of the House Armed Services Subcommittee, issued the following statement after a U.S. citizen was shot and killed by an ICE agent in Minnesota: “A woman in Minnesota was shot and killed by an ICE agent. We have all seen the video, and it is deeply disturbing. “Secretary Noem is now lying about what happened. After a year of fueling chaos, fear, and violence in our towns and cities through a reckless and irresponsible immigration crackdown, this is the result. “There must be a full, independent investigation. ICE agents must undergo serious background checks and receive proper training before they are given a gun.” ### Issues : Ending Gun Violence Public Safety and Criminal Justice Reform Social Justice
