Husted visits Mary Lou Patton Park, discusses funding he secured for park improvements
“Mary Lou Patton Park is a place where hundreds of Ohio kids play and compete every year, and this funding will make it safer, more accessible and easier to use.” CHILLICOTHE, Ohio – Sen. Jon Husted (R-Ohio) today joined city officials and community leaders for a visit to Mary Lou Patton Park in Chillicothe to see firsthand how funding he secured will improve drainage, parking, traffic circulation, accessibility and safety at the park. “Through my work in the U.S. Senate, I’m committed to making sure Ohio communities have the resources they need to complete critical infrastructure projects that improve safety and quality of life. Mary Lou Patton Park is a place where hundreds of Ohio kids play and compete every year, and this funding will make it safer, more accessible and easier to use. I was glad to be on the ground today with local leaders to see firsthand how this investment will benefit Chillicothe families and the broader community,” said Husted. Mary Lou Patton Park is a longstanding regional youth-sports facility serving hundreds of children each year. Husted secured funding for the park through a Fiscal Year 2026 Congressional Directed Funding request. The funding will address ongoing drainage issues, improve traffic flow and parking, preserve green space, improve safety and make other infrastructure improvements throughout the park. This project aims to enhance the accessibility, enjoyment and safety of the park.
