Protecting Our Postal Service

February 28, 2025 Newsletters Dear Friend, There are news reports that the Trump administration is planning to make drastic changes to the United States Postal Service that threaten the future status of your Post Office. According to the Washington Post, Donald Trump will issue an executive order firing the entire Postal Board of Governors and then ending the Postal Service as an independent body. Many people do not know that our Postal Service does not cost Americans taxpayers one dime. For over 50 years, the Postal Service has been an independent body that does not receive regular revenue from the government. So know that any claim that the Post Office is wasting tax dollars is untrue. If the President tried to unilaterally move the Post Office into the government, this would set the stage for privatizing elements of the Postal Service. Privatization would harm mail service, eliminate jobs, and hurt countless Americans. I view the Postal Service not as a business that needs to turn a profit but as a vital public service that should always be there when Americans need it. For generations, the Post Office has been one of the most beloved parts of American life. Hundreds of millions of Americans rely on it. I want to make something crystal clear: I will always support the Post Office. And I will oppose any efforts that would harm postal service in America.
