Observed annually in October, National Learning Disabilities Awareness Month raises public awareness of learning disabilities, promotes early and accurate diagnoses, and highlights the importance of ensuring individuals have access to the resources, tools, and support they need to succeed in school, the workplace, and their communities. “Having a learning disability should never stand in the way of a person’s ability to pursue their goals and achieve success,” said Congresswoman Brownley. “I began my career in public service to ensure that individuals like my daughter, who has dyslexia, have access to the resources and tools that empower them to learn and grow with confidence. I am grateful for Congresswoman Houchin’s partnership in recognizing National Learning Disabilities Awareness Month as we work to foster positive and supportive learning environments and improve learning outcomes and lived experiences for people with learning disabilities.” “Every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, and that starts with the early identification of learning disabilities,” said Congresswoman Houchin. “Students who struggle quickly fall through the cracks of our education system. That’s why I am proud to recognize National Learning Disabilities Awareness Month alongside Congresswoman Brownley.  We can, and should, do more to screen children as early as possible for learning challenges, like dyslexia, and this resolution brings awareness to the issue.” This resolution is endorsed by the National Center for Learning Disabilities, a leading non-profit organization focused on building community, sharing resources, and shaping policy to help individuals with learning and attention issues.
