Strong markets benefit Iowa

Iowa farmers are resilient, but market swings impact a farmer’s ability to conduct operations that ultimately feed and fuel all of us. Whether it’s ensuring access to reliable financing to buy new equipment, or advocating for biofuels, stable markets allow Iowa’s farmers the confidence they need to plan ahead. Today, I spoke at the House Agriculture Committee during a hearing marking the 50th anniversary of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). For decades, the CFTC has helped keep commodity markets strong and liquid – making sure that farmers can access the capital they need to support their operations. Bottom line: Strong, reliable markets help farmers make informed decisions and support their farms, families, and communities. Let’s keep standing with our farmers to provide certainty and ensure our farmers and ag businesses are set up for success.
