Image October 31, 2025 Blog Post Note from Brad: Welcome back to my monthly newsletter. Before I begin with updates from D.C., I would be remiss if I did not take a moment to acknowledge and pay tribute to Charlie Kirk, who was taken from us far too soon at the beginning of September. I am praying for his wife and their two kids in this time of unspeakable tragedy and hope you’ll join me. Charlie was a champion of free speech and civil discourse. He set a tremendous example through his faith, politics, and character, and he will be missed. Turning to Washington, what had otherwise been an incredibly productive month on Capitol Hill came to a screeching halt this week as Democrats succeeded in shutting down the government. Despite Republicans passing a clean, bipartisan continuing resolution (CR) that would give us more time to carry out the appropriations process, Democrats decided to dig in on unrealistic, radical demands that put Americans last. Demands like free Medicaid for illegal aliens, cutting funding for rural hospitals, and sending taxpayer dollars to fund liberal prerogatives here and internationally are all nonstarters. The Democrats’ demands would also increase spending by $1.5 trillion when our national debt just climbed over $37 trillion is simply untenable.  I encourage the Democrats orchestrating this costly shutdown to reconsider the bipartisan CR which keeps the government open at existing funding levels. In the meantime, my staff and I remain hard at work to serve constituents. If you have any questions or need assistance with a federal agency, please reach out to my office . As I said, September had gotten off to a productive start. On September 11, as we honored the sacrifice of heroes protecting our homeland, my bill to defend the U.S. from dangerous criminal illegal aliens passed the House. Representative Stephanie Bice and I led the Stop Illegal Entry Act to enable efficient convictions with strong penalties whenever an illegal immigrant commits a felony or attempts to come back into the country after deportation. President Trump has indicated he supports the bill and will sign it when it gets to his desk, so I am strongly encouraging the Senate to pass it quickly. I was glad to see our legislation pass with bipartisan support, as it really is about protecting ALL Americans from those who aim to do us harm. Sincerely, Image Brad Knott Member of Congress Nearly 6,000 Join Telephone Town Hall On Wednesday, September 17, Brad held a telephone town hall with nearly 6,000 participants. Together, they discussed a wide range of topics from veterans support and local infrastructure to immigration and tax relief. Brad Participates in Charlotte Judiciary Hearing Brad participated in the House Judiciary Committee's field hearing in Charlotte, North Carolina, examining the scourge of violent crime enabled by Democrats' weak, soft-on-crime policies. In a verbal exchange with the Democrats' witness, Congressman Knott pointed out that statistics showing a decrease in crime fail to recognize more than 1.5 million Americans killed with deadly drugs as well as potential tampering to artificially deflate reported instances of crime. Stop Illegal Entry Act Passes the House The U.S. House of Representatives voted to pass the Stop  Illegal Entry Act, which Brad led with Representatives Stephanie Bice (OK-05). The legislation imposes stricter penalties for individuals who illegally enter and re-enter the United States after deportation and commit felonies while in the U.S. illegally. Brad Provides Insight into Tyler Robinson Prosecution Following the tragic and horrific assassination of Charlie Kirk and the subsequent manhunt ending the in apprehension of Tyler Robinson, Brad provided insight from the perspective of a prosecutor regarding the challenges of trying such a high-profile case.
