Tillis, Budd Applaud Nomination of Two North Carolina Judges

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, U.S. Senators Thom Tillis (R-NC) and Tedd Budd (R-NC) applauded President Trump’s nominations of Brian S. Meyers to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the Eastern District of North Carolina and Philip L. Aubart to serve as a U.S. District Judge for the Middle District of North Carolina. Both nominees were recommended by Senators Tillis and Budd.
“Congratulations to Brian S. Meyers and Philip L. Aubart on their nominations to serve as District Court Judges for North Carolina’s Eastern and Middle Districts,” said Senator Tillis . “Both are highly qualified attorneys who respect the rule of law and are committed to upholding the Constitution. I am confident they will serve the people of North Carolina with integrity and distinction. I thank President Trump for nominating them and look forward to working with Senator Budd to advance their nominations and secure their confirmation by the full Senate.”

Background:
Brian S. Meyers currently serves as a U.S. Magistrate Judge in the Eastern District of North Carolina. Magistrate Judge Meyers previously served as Executive Assistant to the United States Attorney for the Eastern District, where he was the Chief of staff and Counsel to then-United States Attorney Robert J. Higdon, Jr.
Philip L. Aubart currently serves as the First Assistant for the Unites States Attorney in the Eastern District of North Carolina and as the Army Reserve Major for the Judge Advocate General’s Corps. Mr. Aubart previously served as Assistant United State Attorney in the Violent Crimes Section, where he was responsible for driving violent crime strategy across the entire district.
