Salinas Condemns Trump’s Order to Freeze Federal Grant Funding

January 28, 2025 Press Release Washington, DC – Today, Congresswoman Andrea Salinas (OR-06) issued the following statement after the Trump Administration ordered a blanket freeze of all federal grant funding and loan payments, effective at 5:00 PM ET today: “With the stroke of his pen, President Trump is ordering an unprecedented steal that will take critical resources away from our police, firefighters, veterans, growers, and working families here in Oregon and across the country. Oregonians will immediately feel the effects of Trump’s steal at a time when most folks are already struggling to pay the bills and put food on the table. If the President gets his way, children and seniors will go hungry, parents will pay more for child care, small businesses won’t be able to meet payroll, veterans will lose access to housing and health care, and rural communities won’t get the relief they need to prepare for and recover from wildfires and other disasters. I strongly condemn this illegal theft of taxpayer dollars and call on the Administration to immediately reverse course.
