Kiggans Votes for Secure America Act to Strengthen Border Security and Support Frontline Personnel June 09, 2026 | Press Releases WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congresswoman Jen Kiggans (VA-02) released the following statement after voting to pass the Secure America Act , a bill that fully funds the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) and the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) through September 30, 2029. Congresswoman Kiggans said, “Securing our nation’s borders is one of the federal government’s most fundamental responsibilities. The men and women on the front lines of border security deserve to have the personnel, resources, and technologies to carry out their mission effectively. After seeing over 13 million illegal immigrants flood across our border under the previous administration, we must do our jobs as policymakers to provide the tools needed to keep our border secure and communities safe.” In fully funding CPB and ICE, the bill makes targeted investments in border security infrastructure, personnel, and non-immigration enforcement missions, including: $9.5 billion for non-immigration functions of CBP, $7.4 billion for ICE, including $108.5 million specifically allocated for Homeland Security Investigations to conduct child sexual exploitation and abuse investigations, $3.4 billion for the procurement and upgrades of cutting-edge border surveillance and screening technology along the borders of the United States, And $2.5 billion to DHS for unexpected and unplanned security-related expenses. Finally, the bill funds immigration enforcement and cooperation with state and local law enforcement, including: $31 billion for ICE, $13 billion for immigration enforcement activities at CBP, $2.5 billion for reimbursements to state and local governments participating in homeland security and border enforcement operations with federal law enforcement, And $350 million for the apprehension of criminal illegal immigrants in sanctuary jurisdictions. “A strong national defense begins with a secure border,” Kiggans said . “This bill ensures that partisan gridlock won’t disrupt the flow of resources to our border patrol agents who work tirelessly everyday to keep us safe.” Read the bill here .
