Ansari Celebrates $625,000 Federal Grant Awarded to Redeem Neighborhoods for Youth Substance Use Prevention
LAVEEN, AZ — Representative Yassamin Ansari (AZ-03) recently joined Redeem Neighborhoods and the Laveen Coalition at Collective Coffee in South Phoenix to celebrate their federal Drug-Free Communities (DFC) grant awarding up to $625,000 over five years to support youth substance use prevention efforts in the Laveen community. “I’m proud to have worked with Redeem Neighborhoods to secure federal funding for youth substance use prevention efforts in Laveen. Every young person deserves the opportunity to grow up healthy, supported, and surrounded by people who believe in their potential,” said Rep. Ansari. “One of my top priorities in Congress is bringing federal dollars home to support community-driven solutions that give our families the tools and resources they need to succeed.” “From the time we first met Congresswoman Yassamin Ansari when she served on the Phoenix City Council, she recognized the value of our work and the importance of investing in grassroots organizations like ours. She and her team didn’t just listen to our community—they partnered with us, opened doors, and created opportunities for our voices to be heard. As she has taken on greater leadership roles, that commitment has remained strong,” said Jeanette Arnds, Executive Director of Redeem Neighborhoods. “Her continued support, including helping secure federal funding for youth substance use prevention in Laveen, demonstrates what is possible when leaders invest in local organizations that know their communities best. We’re grateful to have a partner who continues to show up for South Phoenix and the families we serve.” The grant, funded through the White House Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) and administered through the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), will provide $125,000 annually to strengthen community-led prevention initiatives. Ansari submitted a letter of support for Redeem Neighborhoods’ application. More information about the DFC program can be found HERE . ### Print Email Share
