Senator César J. Blanco Announces $16 Million Investment
for El Paso County Transit Infrastructure
El Paso, Texas – Senator César J. Blanco is pleased to announce that the Texas Transportation
Commission has awarded $16 million to El Paso County to support the construction of a new
operations and maintenance facility for public transportation.
The funding includes $12.8 million in federal funds and $3.2 million in state funds awarded to El
Paso County in partnership with the El Paso Transit Authority. The project is expected to
improve the reliability, efficiency, and long-term sustainability of transit services across the
region.
This investment is part of a broader effort by the Texas Department of Transportation to
strengthen transportation infrastructure in communities across Texas, including rural and
underserved areas.
Senator Blanco offered the following statement:
“This is a meaningful investment in how people in El Paso County get around every day. Public
transportation plays a critical role for workers, students, seniors, and families who rely on it to
access jobs, education, healthcare, and essential services.
This new facility will help ensure buses are maintained safely and operate on time, while giving
transit operators the tools they need to better serve our growing community.
I will continue working to ensure El Paso receives its fair share of state resources so we can build
infrastructure that reflects the needs of our region.”
