Neal Statement on Bessent’s Comments to Privatize Social Security

Following Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent’s admission that so-called ‘Trump Accounts’ are a backdoor to privatizing Social Security, Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D‑MA) issued the following statement: “Today, the Treasury Secretary said the quiet part out loud: Republicans’ ultimate goal is to privatize Social Security, and there isn’t a backdoor they won’t try to make Wall Street’s dream a reality.
