U.S. Senator Katie Britt Joins Colleagues on Legislation Introduced by Senator Alan Armstrong to Fix Broken Permitting Process
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) joined 16 of her Republican colleagues in supporting the American Energy and Mineral Infrastructure (AEMI) Act introduced by Senator Alan Armstrong (R-Okla.). This legislation would reform many aspects of the federal permitting process and accelerate construction of critical energy and mineral infrastructure. “As America continues to lead in industries that require a higher energy demand, like artificial intelligence and manufacturing, it’s critical that we modernize our infrastructure to keep up. This bill creates regulatory certainty for energy and critical mineral projects alike, and it continues to execute on President Trump’s promise to unleash American energy dominance and compete with the People’s Republic of China by slashing burdensome red tape, ensuring environmental decision-making is based on sound science, and preventing partisan politics from inhibiting this necessary growth,” said Senator Britt. It is critical that we have the necessary infrastructure to facilitate America becoming not just energy independent, but energy dominant. The AEMI Act would accomplish that by streamlining federal permitting, reducing opportunities for frivolous litigation that delays projects, and preventing politically motivated vetoes of critical American energy and mineral infrastructure. “Our national energy infrastructure is like a bridge: nobody really cares about it until it falls down, and the cracks are starting to show right now. We have a narrow window to act, and we cannot afford to let this opportunity pass us by. I am grateful to my 17 Senate colleagues who are co-sponsoring the AEMI Act. Together, we recognize that America cannot afford another year of delay,” said Senator Armstrong. The AEMI Act has 17 total cosponsors, including Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Jon Husted (R-Ohio), John Kennedy (R-La.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), Roger Marshall (R-Kan.), David McCormick (R-Pa.), Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio), Lisa Murkowski (R-Alaska), Rick Scott (R-Fla.), Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.), and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.). Senator Britt is an original cosponsor. You can view the full bill text here . Senator Britt has been a leader on unleashing American energy during her time in Congress, joining a bicameral group of her colleagues in introducing the Unlocking Domestic LNG Potential Act and cosponsoring the Offshore Energy Security Act of 2025 . ###
