Rep. Webster Votes to Pass the Midnight Rules Relief Act

Washington, D.C. — Today, Florida Congressman Daniel Webster, R-Clermont, voted to pass H.R. 77, the Midnight Rules Relief Act, reinforcing congressional oversight and reining in last-minute regulations issued by outgoing administrations. “I have long advocated for Congress to take back its constitutional authority to ensure that federal regulations align with the will of the people, not the whims of unelected bureaucrats,” said Rep. Webster . “This bill strengthens oversight and prevents outgoing administrations from imposing costly, burdensome regulations in their final months without proper accountability.” Under current law, a Congressional joint resolution of disapproval can only include one regulation submitted for review during the final 60 legislative days of a President’s term. This bill would provide greater flexibility and power to Congress by allowing them to jointly disapprove of multiple regulations in a single joint resolution of disapproval. ###
