Updates from the Other Washington Voted to Protect Americans from DOGE and Elon Musk-Led Federal Funding Cuts Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland (WA-10) voted against the extreme, Right-Wing recissions package that slashes funding for foreign aid and public broadcasting. Watch here Strickland Leads Bicameral Letter to Protect Salmon Research Funding 118th Congress Leadership Elections – January 6, 2023 Congresswoman Strickland, Co-Chair of the Puget Sound Recovery Caucus, sent a letter to the Secretary of the Interior, Doug Burgum, asking that the Administration halt plans to dismantle the Ecosystems Mission Area of the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Read more Other Legislative Action Signed a letter, alongside other Washington state lawmakers to Secretary Noem, Acting Director Lyons, and Acting Commissioner Faulkender regarding ICE raids in Kent, WA. Joined the Bipartisan Background Checks Act of 2025 , which would require that every sale of a firearm include a background check.
