President Trump Approves North Dakota Major Disaster Declaration Following June Severe Storms

GRAND FORKS, N.D. – U.S. Senators Kevin Cramer (R-ND) and John Hoeven (R-ND) and U.S. Congresswoman Julie Fedorchak (R-ND) issued the following statement after President Donald Trump approved North Dakota’s request for a presidential major disaster declaration following the severe storms, straight-line winds and tornados which impacted western and central North Dakota from June 7 to 9, 2026. The declaration approves $3.4 million in disaster costs and makes federal assistance available for recovery efforts in Bottineau, Burke, Divide, McLean, Mercer, Oliver, and Williams counties. The delegation previously sent a letter to President Trump in support of Governor Kelly Armstrong’s request, calling for swift approval of the declaration and access to federal resources for impacted North Dakotans. “President Trump’s approval of this disaster declaration will provide much needed support as North Dakota communities continue recovering from these severe storms, and we appreciate the president’s action to make these federal resources available,” said the delegation. “This assistance will help repair damaged infrastructure and support recovery efforts across the impacted counties.” Click here to read the delegation’s full letter.
