The bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is the biggest housing package in decades, containing over forty provisions aimed at increasing the supply of housing while keeping prices low for hardworking Americans. A report last year ranked Nevada as the state with the second highest number of cost-burdened renters and homeowners, with over 50 percent of Nevada renters and homeowners paying more than 35 percent of their monthly income on rent or mortgage. Nevada also ranked last in availability of affordable housing for low-income households. The 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act includes provisions that create federal incentives for municipalities that successfully build more housing by providing grants to assist states and localities with planning and implementation efforts. It also streamlines the approval process for new housing, bringing down construction costs for new buildings. “Thousands of hardworking Nevadans are being squeezed by the high costs of home ownership and rent, forcing them to make tough decisions. The bipartisan 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act is a great step toward addressing the housing crisis and tackling the issue from multiple angles,” said Senator Rosen . “I am proud to have helped pass this housing package and expect it to be on its way to the President’s desk to become law.” Senator Rosen has been fighting to make housing more affordable in Nevada. This year, she has introduced legislation to exclude homebuilding materials from Trump’s tariffs, and called on the administration to crack down on corporate price gouging in the housing market. Senator Rosen also introduced bipartisan legislation to support small business in the housing industry. Her bipartisan CONSTRUCTS Act would invest in training the construction workforce in order to help increase the housing supply and lower housing costs for Nevadans.
