Ranking Member Markey Condemns Trump's Order to Freeze Federal Grants and Loans

Washington (January 28, 2025) – Senate Small Business and Entrepreneurship Committee Ranking Member Edward J. Markey (D-Mass.) released the following statement in response to President Donald Trump’s federal funding freeze.
“Donald Trump wants to take away certainty for small businesses, while helping right the system for his Billionaire Boys Club. By cutting off federal assistance, Trump is driving fear into small businesses who count on federal resources to help them compete. This isn’t fair to them, it isn’t fair to their workers, and it certainly isn’t helping the economy of our cities and towns that rely on small businesses. Trump’s goal is to shut down government piece by piece and every opportunity available for everyday people to get ahead,”said Ranking Member Markey.
