Chip Roy (TX-21) issued the following statement Tuesday morning regarding President Trump’s day-one executive orders on border security and immigration. Today marks a new day at our southern border, and a new day for America's sovereignty. Thanks to President Trump's slate of executive orders on border security, America is now back on track to regaining operational control of our borders, and our heroic border patrol and ICE agents are finally able to do their jobs again after four long years of unlawful chaos. By ending the CBP One app, declaring the cartels as terrorist organizations — as I introduced legislation to do as a freshman member of Congress in 2019 — reinstating Title 42 and the Remain in Mexico policies, and ending the longstanding problem of birthright citizenship — among his many other critical actions — the president has sent an unmistakable message: the rule of law is back, and this government is going to put America and her citizens first again. Now it is time for Congress to follow his lead and to our own part. With a Republican trifecta in the House, Senate, and White House, we must move quickly to deliver the immediate resources and long-term policy changes necessary to secure the border now and ensure that no future president can do the kind of damage that Joe Biden did to this country.
