Senate begins debate on budget supplementals; debate on corrections supplemental postponed

DENVER-- Today, the Senate began debate on budget supplementals. Consideration of Senate Bill 23-113, the supplemental bill concerning the Department of Corrections, has been delayed until tomorrow.
Senator Kirkmeyer (R - Weld County)
has issued the following statement on today's debate:
"The Colorado Senate Republicans are focused on ensuring that our state agencies operate with efficiency and transparency to best serve the people of Colorado. Many of these bills unfortunately continue the growth of the state government at an unsustainable pace.
Debate on Senate Bill 23-113, the supplemental for the Department of Corrections has been delayed until tomorrow. Crime and public safety have been a critical focus of the Republican caucus for several sessions now. We are gratified that more time will be taken to negotiate this bill. Now more than ever, it is critical that the Department of Corrections operate efficiently and transparently to best serve the people of Colorado. We eagerly anticipate tomorrow's discussion of SB23-113.”
