Congresswoman Nikema Williams Votes No on Republican Budget Resolution

Congresswoman Nikema Williams (GA-05) issued the following statement after voting NO to the budget resolution:

“This Republican billionaire budget resolution is another example of the Republican Ripoff, and everyone knows it – Democrats, Independents, and even people who voted for Donald Trump. House Republicans’ proposed budget would hurt working families—cutting Medicaid and taking food off their tables by stripping SNAP, all in the name of giving tax cuts to billionaires.

Medicaid and SNAP are lifelines for Georgians. Medicaid is vital for 125,550 people in the Fighting Fifth and SNAP puts food on the table for 196,000 people in the Fighting Fifth. The federal government is not a business. It’s here to work for the American people, and it’s time for us to start acting like it.”
