SANTA FE, NM – Congresswoman Teresa Leger Fernández (NM-03) released the following statement in response to President Trump’s unilateral military action in Iran today: “The Constitution gives Congress, not the President, the power to declare war” she said. “War should not be entered into on a whim by a single person. We must do everything we can to protect American lives and our military in every base, in every place. Trump’s acts are unconstitutional.” “Speaker Johnson must immediately bring up the Massie Resolution—which I am a cosponsor of—to prevent war with Iran without Congress’ approval, ” she concluded. ###
