Senator César Blanco Hosts Free Community Health Services Event
in Fort Stockton, Expanding Access to Care for Rural Families
Fort Stockton, Texas – Senator César Blanco, in partnership with the Texas Department of
State Health Services, hosted a Free Community Health Services event on Wednesday, April 22,
at the Pecos County Community Action Agency in Fort Stockton, bringing essential health
resources directly to families in West Texas.
The event was designed to help expand access to basic preventive care for families in rural
communities who may face barriers to healthcare services. Approximately 75 dental services
were provided, including fluoride treatments and dental sealants for children, and 65 car seats
were distributed to families.
“Events like this are about meeting families where they are and making sure access to basic
health services isn’t a barrier because of where someone lives or what resources they have,” said
Senator Blanco. “In rural communities like Fort Stockton, we know those gaps can be real, and
this is one small way we can help close them by bringing care, support, and prevention services
directly to the community.”
“Families in our rural communities face real challenges getting the health care they need, so
events like this in Ft. Stockton can help provide services that are often difficult to find,” said Art
Alvarado, DSHS Public Health Region 9/10 deputy regional director.
Blanco added, “We’re grateful to our partners at the Texas Department of State Health Services
and local organizations for helping make this work possible.”
