Joyce Announces $3.75 Million for New Fire Station

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Dave Joyce (OH-14) announced $3.75 million in funding for the construction of a new fire station in Concord Township. This funding was secured through the Senate Amendment to H.R. 5371 – Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act, 2026.

“Since joining Congress, I have consistently worked to support our first responders and bring federal funds back to Ohio’s Fourteenth Congressional District,” said Congressman Joyce. “That’s why I am proud to have helped secure funding for the construction of this much-needed fire station, which will help the Concord Township Fire Department to do its job safely and effectively. This new station will provide critical services and peace of mind to Concord Township, and I am glad to have played a part in moving this project forward.”

“The Concord Township Trustees and Fiscal Officer would like to thank the Congressman for his hard work and diligence in securing this necessary funding for our Fire Station project,” said Amy Lucci, Chairperson of the Concord Township Board of Trustees. “Fire Station 2, built over 65 years ago, is in desperate need of replacement, and this new station will greatly enhance the health, safety, and welfare of our firefighting personnel. This will be a needed addition to our community and will ensure the continued high quality of service that is vital to our residents.”

Background:

This new fire station will replace the Concord Township Fire Department’s Station 2 with a brand-new facility. The current station is inadequate by today’s standards, posing increased safety risks to community members. Currently, Station 2 is designed to accommodate four firefighters, an insufficient number when compared with the drastic rise in calls the station has received. In 2017, the Ohio Fire Chiefs’ Association assessed that the station needed to be replaced. The new fire station has already been designed and includes features meant to prevent firefighters from being exposed to toxic chemicals and carcinogens.
