Rosen Helps Introduce Legislation to Make Enhanced Affordable Care Act Tax Credits Permanent, Prevent Higher Health Care Costs for Families

WASHINGTON, DC– U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen (D-NV) helped introduce legislation that would permanently extend health care premium tax credits and prevent prices from going up for hardworking Nevada families. TheHealth Care Affordability Actwould make permanent the premium tax credits for the Health Insurance Marketplace established by theAffordable Care Act(ACA) and enhanced by theAmerican Rescue Plan Act(ARPA), and make health care coverage more affordable and accessible for millions of Americans. Senator Rosen played a leading role in securing a three-year extension of ARPA’senhanced ACA credits as part of theInflation Reduction Act, which are set to expire at the end of 2025.
“The health care tax credits established by theAffordable Care Actand enhanced by theAmerican Rescue Plan Acthave been a lifeline, making health insurance more affordable for hardworking Nevada families,”said Senator Rosen.“I’ve been leading the push to extend these enhanced tax credits and keep costs from rising, and I’m proud to have helped introduce legislation to make them permanent.”
Senator Rosen has been leading the fight to increase access to quality, affordable health care. She helpedpass legislationto give Medicare the power to negotiate lower prescription drug prices and cap insulin at $35/month. Senator Rosen has alsoannouncedthe start of the $2,000 cap on out-of-pocket prescription drug costs for Nevada seniors andencouragedNevadans to sign up for health care coverage through Nevada’s health care marketplace during the open enrollment period.
