Congresswoman Lee Statement on Anti-Doctor Bill That Will Worsen Nevada’s OB-GYN Shortage
January 23, 2025 Press Release WASHINGTON — Today, Congresswoman Susie Lee (NV-03) released the following statement on her vote against extreme legislation H.R. 21 that will worsen the OB-GYN and physician shortage in Nevada by making it a crime for doctors to provide appropriate care to newborns: “This bill will mean less OB-GYNs at a time when Nevada is already facing a severe shortage. Nevada ranks 46th in the country for the number of OB-GYNs per 100,000 people. “That’s because this Republican-led bill will make it a crime for doctors to provide appropriate care to newborns. “By law, doctors are already required to provide medical care to a newborn baby. This bill puts babies' health at risk by forcing doctors to follow a politician’s medical advice rather than their own.” ### Issues : Women's Rights Health Care
