Senator Huffman Praises Tipp City Approval of Meijer Grocery Development
August 18, 2026
Stephen A. Huffman News
COLUMBUS—State Senator Steve Huffman (R-Tipp City) is pleased to see Tipp City Council approve a land sale agreement with Meijer to build a new grocery store. This follows support from Senator Huffman for the development project in Ohio's recent capital budget.
"Watching this development move forward with Meijer is a huge accomplishment for the city and the surrounding region," said Senator Huffman. "I'm proud to have supported the funding for this project in the capital budget. I know that this investment from the state and the city will have a positive effect for residents across the 5th Senate District and I look forward to shopping at this new Meijer myself."
This comes as a result of the Ohio General Assembly's support of the Tipp City Grocery Project to attract a full-service grocery store for the neighborhood and eliminate a food desert in the city. The project anticipates the creation of 110 new jobs while also expanding local economic activity. Edison State Community College is included as a partner in the project, providing support for its development.
Tipp City Council approved a purchase agreement with Meijer Stores for 17 acres in the city's 60-acre development known as the "Uptown District" at the corner of SR 571 and County Road 25A. The agreement allows Meijer to buy the land for $3,050,000 to build a new store on the site.
