House Republicans Condemn Violent Attack at Boulder Walk for Israeli Hostages

issued the following statement after multiple people were injured in a violent attack during a peaceful walk for Israeli hostages at Boulder’s Pearl Street Mall.
“This horrific act of violence targeted Coloradans exercising their First Amendment rights,” said Minority Leader Rose Pugliese. “We are praying for the victims, their families, and the Boulder community. Violence has no place in our state—especially when directed at those standing in unity for the innocent.”
Assistant Minority Leader Ty Winter added, “Targeting peaceful demonstrators with violence is an attack on our values as a nation. We must be clear: there is no place for hate like this in Colorado. Our communities have the right to feel safe while they gather in peace.”
Representative Dan Woog, who represents a part of Boulder, stated, “This attack occurred in the heart of a public space where hundreds of families, students, and visitors gather each day. That a peaceful walk was met with violence in such a well-traveled, open setting is both alarming and unacceptable. We must remain vigilant in confronting hatred and protecting our communities.”
Representative Ron Weinberg, who is Jewish and once lived in Israel, shared, “The fact that participants, including women and children, were attacked with incendiary devices while peacefully advocating for the release of hostages in Gaza is appalling. This country was founded on the principles of free speech, peaceful assembly, and religious freedom. The individuals who gathered in Boulder were exercising those rights and were met with hatred. The suspect must be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, and law enforcement must treat this as the domestic terror incident it is.”
Authorities have confirmed the suspect is in custody and the attack is under active investigation. Reports indicate incendiary devices were used, causing life-threatening injuries to participants in a peaceful weekly march.
The leaders also thanked first responders for their swift and courageous response. “We are grateful to those who rushed to help,” Pugliese said. “We remain committed to protecting the rights and safety of all Coloradans.”
