Congressman Harris Releases Statement After All Maryland Delegation Members Vote To Furlough Federal Workers
March 12, 2025 Press Release Washington, D.C . – Congressman Andy Harris, M.D., released the following statement after all members of the Maryland delegation voted to furlough federal workers. Yesterday, the House of Representatives passed a continuing resolution that reduced the overall amount of government spending while funding the military, Veterans, the Women, Infants, and Children’s program (WIC), and providing funds for the deportation of criminal illegal aliens that are threatening our communities. All members of the Maryland delegation voted against the continuing resolution. Statement From Congressman Harris: “Given the number of federal workers that would be furloughed in the event of a government shutdown, I’m surprised I was the only member of the Maryland delegation that voted yesterday to keep the government open. Democrats preach about their care for federal workers, but their actions speak louder than their words.” For media inquiries, please contact Anna Adamian at Anna.A@mail.house.gov Issues : Agriculture Defense and Foreign Affairs Economy Education Environment Health Immigration Veterans
