Senator Kim Statement on Homeland Security Notice Extending Temporary Protected Status for El Salvador

WASHINGTON D.C.– Today,Senator Andy Kimreleased the following statement supporting the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) notice extending Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for El Salvador. In addition to El Salvador, DHS extended TPS status for Venezuela, Ukraine, and Sudan.
“This decision to extend Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for El Salvador will provide the certainty and safety that Salvadorians across New Jersey and our country deserve,”said Senator Kim.“It’s a certainty that will be put at risk as President Trump takes office in a little more than a week. The Biden Administration should take advantage of these coming days to further extend protections for other current TPS recipients to provide time for Congress to come together and fix our broken immigration system in a way that protects families, provides an orderly process for those who seek the American Dream, and adds to our safety and security.”
On January 7th, Senator Kimsent a letter to DHS Secretary Mayorkasurging for the redesignation of TPS for El Salvador.
