Baumgartner Votes to Fund Border Security

Baumgartner Votes to Fund Border Security June 09, 2026 | Press Releases WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, Congressman Michael Baumgartner (WA-05) voted to pass the Secure America Act to fund border security. This funding ensures that ICE and CBP can continue the historic progress they have made under the Trump administration to address the disastrous, open-border policies under the Biden administration. ICE and CBP have not been funded since September 30, 2025, while Congress has fully funded every single other government agency. This puts restraints on the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) – leaving our country open to threats. “Congress has a responsibility to protect the American people and ensure that taxpayer dollars are used for their intended purpose,” said Congressman Baumgartner. “The Secure America Act provides the resources needed to enforce our immigration laws, stop dangerous drugs such as fentanyl from entering our communities, and support the men and women working to secure our border.” The Secure America Act provides $69.55 billion for U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Immigration and Customs Enforcement, and related DHS operations through Fiscal Year 2029. The legislation supports border personnel, immigration enforcement, technology to combat illicit narcotics and fentanyl trafficking, and stronger coordination with state and local law enforcement. The measure, passed by a vote of 214 to 212, and is now heading to the President’s desk. The text of the Secure America Act can be found here .
